2025 Aug update.
Weboost vs Starlink Mini right now.
Weboost is free to operate, but the hardware costs as much as a Starlink mini. A Starlink ROAM monthly plan is $50/50gb.
Starlink eats 10-20 watts when running, Weboost 8-10 watts
Weboost won't work if there's no cell signal to boost. You need at least half a bar to start with
Weboost is also limited to the transmitter puck. It's on a 10ft cord, and I've found I basically have to hold it to the back of my phone to work the best. Starlink on the other hand has a wifi signal, so you can walk around camp and be within range.
Starlink also can be moved to a better spot with clear sky and powered by a portable power station. But that's also a potential downside, if you camp under lots of trees Starlink doesn't work. You need clear sky. Weboost doesn't seem to be as affected by trees.
