woke up around 2a.m.. just needed to drink more water. fell back asleep until 5:15a.m.
while i was lying there trying to see if i could sleep some more, i heard the drizzle start on the tent. i'd checked the forecast before falling asleep, forecast calls more most of the showers/rain around 9 a.m. and it will stop around 2p.m. i bet it lingers a little longer, because i'm biking the same direction as the storm. but as much as i'd like to think, i'm probably not as fast as the wind. i'll take a good tailwind though. lol
the bright side of a rainy day. i don't have to worry about sunscreen or wearing my sun sleeves and leggings. and i get to use my goretex jacket and pants, so I haven't been packing them for nothing.
speaking of that particular bright side, i think i've pretty much used all the gear i brought, but i haven't felt like i was lacking anything either. touch wood Excluding the broken usb battery bank I had to replace.
and the strapping/bag system to carry it all is working well too. Getting a new chain in REI rochester was preemptive. the bike was still shifting fine, and it's not like the chain snapped. but i didn't trust it to last me to albany if we kept having tough conditions. the stone dust trails kick up gritty stuff onto the bike chain and gearing. i wash it off with my water bottle when i can spare the water.
it's around 7a.m. now. packed up in the rain this morning. going to buy some water and snacks for the road and get going. i haven't figure out yet an easy way to get a distance estimate along a pre-planned route in the RideWithGPS app. i'll have to google that. but i think it's 60-70 miles to get to a hotel in Syracuse today. Definitely shooting for a hotel tonight. I need to wash my clothes in a bathtub or something. when i did the laundromat the other day, i was able to wash all my biking clothes, but my sun hoody could use a cleaning too. I suppose i could just wear my goretex jacket with nothing under it while i wash it all.

Bryne Dairy's aren't bad. Still prefer Stewart's. I have a lot of old memories in my early 20's, working at Wyeth Ayerst in Rouse Point, going for hikes/bike rides on the weekend and stopping at Stewart's for an Ice Cream. Hard to beat nostalgia. Another sign of getting old.
