7 apr camping at Valley of the Gods
Decided to camp early at 10:30am, before the weekend crowd arrives. Going to just relax today.
Recharging my bluetooth keyboard. Hoping it's just the battery. Otherwise will get a new one at the next Walmart. Love the iclever folding ones but keys stop working. I'll just get a regular small one if it's died already.
7 apr Friday afternoon, valley of the gods camp
went for a walk down by the creek. mostly dried out, but i found a cow path. didn’t see any wildlife.
spent the afternoon watching Reacher for the 3rd/4th time. it’s total guy cheese, but entertaining.
was good to just cmp most of the day, weather was Sunny and mid 30’s
Because it was so sunny I set up the 70% sun tarp. 70% means it blocks 70% of the sunlight, but lets some wind through. still you have to stake it and tie it up pretty well. I tied it to the Thule awning.
Also, I finished the audiobook, “Critical Mass” by Daniel Suarez. highly recommend. good plot but plausible. I only hope we have that future, even though it skims over the grim stuff going on planet side. humanity’s future is in space, maybe not outside our solar system if we can’t travel faster than light, but def in space. part of me wishes I could live in that future, but being in space you’re always in a suit or a cramped space. I’d miss the outdoors I think
Solar did phenominally well today. 530 watt hours, or 44amp hours @12 volts. normally we drive long enough for the 30amps/hour off the alternator does the recharging, so the solar never has to contribute as much.
Anyway it was a good day.
7apr death of the iclever folding keyboard.
the N key has stopped working. i tried removing the keys and alcohol, but the switch/button is dead.
going to handwrite a diary next couple days. Won’t hit a walmart for a few days more, we're in no man's land.
The Bluetooth keyboard is officially dead. Obviously i won't be typing as much until i get a new one. R.i.p little folding keyboard, you were gone too soon
8 Apr Saturday morning Valley of Gods camp
for breakfast made an egg sandwich, and as I was doing that, noticed hot air ballons off in the distance.
packed up and drove the rest of the Valley of the Gods loop. i’ll definitely be back.
