it’s a cool switchback climb wtih pullouts and stops for photos. on the way up a couple of 20 something ladies were biking down.
The first look terrified, and the 2nd had the biggest smile on her face. I’d put money on the 2nd getting her friend to do the ride. tough chicks though, that must have been a helluva climb.
after all the stops and photos, found camp off molley road at about 6356’
the 70% shade cloth is a keeper, made cooking at the tailgate way more pleasant/comfortable
copied jeff and made a bacon sandwich for lunch. just 2 strips, cooked well done, mayo and toasted bread, but tasty.
for dinner I made tikka masala which came out more like a curry, and i should have added a pinch of cayenne. but for camp food. downright gourmet.
came up with a new dish cleaning technique too. I had a 2nd sponge in the rinse water do most of the cleaning then using the cleaner sponge in the clean, hot soaped dishwater. after I get a dish “clean”. I use the Nemo water pig to rinse it off into the folding bucket.
after dinner after things had cooled, did a long 1 hour walk. out and back from the rim at the end of the road. did go to the very, very end because some campers had set up there.
after getting back, put the sun tarp and thule awning away. setup the ammo can and the propane didn’t last long so Jeff got is wax candle in a cookie tin thing. worked well enough.
