cold today, high of 35, very strong winds.   so a good day to do laundry, be in town for a bit,  we’ll then go find camp later.   tomorrow we’ll go to Horseshoe Bend and do the ½+ mile hike.   just a tad cold/unpleasant today.    we’re not in a rush.

4 apr 6:15pm. Page AZ, Walmart Supercenter

this afternoon hung out by the town library, used their wifi to update some overlay for the GaiaGPS areas/maps that I drew for the area.   Should’ve pinged jeff before leaving, and it’d have been done in <15 minutes with my home network, especially since the fiber upgrade.

Anyway, had a pizza at the walmart subway.    (mama deluca’s)  sort of makes sense, uses the same equipment and ingredients mostly.   the dough is like a thick flatbread in a round pizza shape,  only took 2 minutes to cook, in the same sort of oven they use to toast subs.

before dinner, I shopped a little at Walmart.   Refilled my 7gallon jug for <$2.   

for $10 i found the tiniest, cutest little egg omelet/skillet for the camper.  it runs on normal household current, but only draws 268 watts. 

now that I have the inverter running properly, it’ll be a great way to make an egg omelet or cook a little stir fry.    and now that I’m not wasting wattage when the inverter is on, I can run the mini skillet the same time I toast bread, or run the instant pot to make rice.     it’ll give me a safe way to cook inside too.   which is kind of sweet.
egg omelete in the gadget, cook some toast w the toaster, very civilized.   Much safer than trying to start a white gas stove in high wind too.

The weather is better tomorrow, less wind, high of mid 50’s instead of upper 30’s, so we’ll go to horseshoe bend, and do the little hike.   after that we’ve got to decide monument valley or southern rim of the Grand Canyon.   Glad we “wasted” a day today; it was productive.
